Traveling AYM Museum Sets Up at “Chosen” Pathfinder Camporee in Oshkosh, WI August 12-17, 2019.
Here is a list of the various displays and honors that will be taught during these days. If you are coming to the camporee stop by Hanger D and see what is displayed in AYM Museum 25,000 square feet of space and another 15,000 sq. ft. other items. See list below:
Hanger D
Pathfinder Museum at Chosen Camporee Oshkosh, WisconsinAugust 12-17, 2019
- Area # 1: Look for the NAD Flags and photo opportunity, place a flag tack on the map where your club is located, learn about the 1st ever Pathfinder Camporee, 1st ever Union Pathfinder Camporee and the 2014 Forever Faithful Camporee. Receive a Museum passport.
- Area # 2: SDA History 1852-1927 – Learn about SDA Pioneers, an old time school house, the beginnings of Youth Ministry by youth, a Sanctuary display, Friend, Companion and Comrade and receive a passport stamp.
- Area # 3: Youth Ministry displays 1928-1945, learn about Pitcairn Island, collect a foreign coin, play Bible Sword, and learn about L. A. Skinner, Theodore Lucas, Eldine Dunbar, Desmond T. Doss, MCC, First Aid, and receive a passport stamp.
- Area # 4: Enjoy the display of Summer Camps from the first in 1925 to current ones as well as learn the “Doss” knot that helped to save so many lives. Enjoy the SDA Camp Video and receive a passport stamp.
- Area # 5: Pathfinders 1946-1957 – Discover the 2nd World Pathfinder Director and his achievements and learn who authored the Pathfinder Song. See displays on Music, Drawing, Lashings, and Native American Lore. Milk a “cow”, see the Bible display and don’t forget your passport stamp.
- Area # 6: Pathfinder Clubs 1958-1984 – Delight in learning about Pathfinder’s through the years, the 25th anniversary, when Voyager was added for 9th grade, displays from Conferences throughout the NAD get your photo taken behind the figures in 1960’s Uniform and get your passport stamp!
- Area # 7: Thrill in the displays from the World fields including, Inter America, South America, Russia, the Philippians, and Korea. Work on making a canoe, visit with World Youth directors and receive your passport stamp.
- Area # 8: Digital Photography Classroom for Teens only. Bring your own camera and a thumb drive so you may complete the honor. Check schedule for class times – first come first served.
- Area # 9: North American Division Camporees and materials 1985-1994 are on display. Visit with Ron Stretter director of the 1989 Friendship Camporee, watch a “Roses” video, see the Dare to Care display and don’t forget your passport stamp.
- Area # 10: Pathfinder History 1995-2014 which includes the Discover the Power, Faith on Fire and Courage to Stand Camporees, Drill, Cycling and the Olympic torch display. Don’t forget to sign the Chosen Banner and receive a passport stamp.
- Area # 11: Today in Pathfindering 2015-2019 and learn some history of former and current GC and NAD Youth Directors. Check out the slide, belt buckle and uniform displays. Don’t forget to leave a pin for the Museum collection and receive a stamp in your passport.
- Area # 12: Flag Honor Classroom – learn how to properly fold and display the US and Pathfinder Flags as well as how to do a flag raising at your event.
- Area # 13: Memories – an area to see old and new items and if interested obtain a Historian Ministry Patch.
- Area # 14: Origami Classroom – learn to fold it right! Have fun learning various folds as you earn an honor. You may take your creations home with you.
- Area # 15 Historian Ministry Classroom – classes will be taught at 3:00 PM daily for interested adults that would like to be involved in collecting for their Conferences, Unions or Divisions to help preserve the history of Youth Ministry around the world.
- Area # 16-A Dinosaur Honor Basic – What does the term dinosaur mean? Learn the various parts of a dinosaur and see the size of eggs the lay. Why don’t we see dinosaurs today? You will learn all of this interesting information while taking this honor.
- Area # 16-B Dinosaur Honor Advanced – A deep and fuller study of the dinosaur and what the Bible has to say about them.
- Area # 16-C V.R. Demonstration – View the special demonstrations dealing with dinosaurs, fossils and reptiles.
- Area # 16-D Lecture Area – special stories and information will be presented by the teachers from Southwestern Adventist University. Now is the time to learn all you can.
- Area # 16-E Dinosaur – a full size dinosaur from Southwestern Adventist University Museum will be on display. A must see for all Pathfinders.
- Area # 16-F Fossil Honor and Displays – How many different types of fossils are there and where are they found? Get the correct definitions of the various fossils. You will enjoy the displays.
- Area # 16-G Reptiles Honor and Displays – Enjoy learning the characteristics of 15 different reptiles, where they live, their food habits and many other interesting facts about these creatures.
- Area # 17 Adventist Roder’s Club Car Display – Pastor Ron Whitehead’s 1957 Chevy will be on display. Lloyd Clapp’s special car will displayed along with several other autos. The cars will also be used in the daily parade.
- Area # 18 AYMM Display – Special display and information dealing with the future permeant building to be built in Battle Creek, Michigan near the Historic Adventist Village. Come by and pick up your free gift and sign up for the newsletter if you are not already receiving it.
- Area # 19 Doss Foundation Display of the personal items of Desmond Thomas Doss who was a United States Army corporal who served as a combat medic with an infantry company in World War II. He was twice awarded the Bronze Star Medal for actions in Guam and the Philippines. The display will include the Congressional Medal of Honor presented to Desmond by President Harry Truman. His son, Desmond T. Doss Jr. will be present to share his father’s story.
