Keep a Song in Your Heart by Dixie Plata – Pathfinder Historian

This Junior Songbook – was a souvenir of the Junior Youth Congress held at Loma Linda, California on the hill near the old Sanitarium and Hospital in the amphitheater, where the College of Medical Evangelism graduations were held. For an eleven year old to go from a small Sabbath School of less than a dozen at Spangle, Washington to the meetings with hundreds was quite overwhelming. To sing with Elder John H. Hancock, who lead the music with his accordion, was a real thrill. Dixie stayed at the end of the program and obtained Elder Hancock’s signature on her songbook, which became the second item she personally collected for what is to become the Adventist Youth Ministries Museum. The walk back to her grandparent’s mobile home located on old highway 99 was like “floating” so pleased was she to have the special signature and relive the memories of the wonderful program. This song book will be displayed in the AYM Museum when it is built in Battle Creek, MI. At present it is in one of the traveling display cases.
